Francisco Takes Flight! is a beautiful children’s story about a pink flamingo. It is also a children’s book about self-discovery. It also is a children’s story to celebrate the animals at the Detroit Zoo. The author of this children’s book is a Detroit-native. The editor and illustrator are also from Michigan. Michigan State University is the alma mater of the author, so there is a lot of home-base around Detroit, Michigan, the Detroit Zoo, and Lansing, Michigan. Buy a children’s book for a christmas gift. This book is about how Francisco is told something about himself for many years that isn’t true and helps break flamingo boundaries. It is based on the Detroit Zoo flamingos, however the brown from beneath the wings has been removed because it was hand-illustrated by a Detroit native. This Michigan based children’s book was written by a graduate of Michigan State University, an alumni of the music program. Steve Boughton is now a television producer in Michigan where he plans to continue writing children’s books that talk about flamingos and other of his favorite animals.
